Guys.

I am looking to run 8 x SATA III drives and I was wondering if anyone can assist on the PSU size? Will a 650w be enough to power 8 x SATA III drives, plus a quad port intel NIC and 12GB of RAM?

Thanks in advance

650W is a bit overkill for 8 drives.

What is the model in question?

What are you running to get 556w?

A sata drive needs about 2A 12V to spin up and a lot less afterwards 3-6watt. Then a seasonic G-350 (or it G-360) would be enough and gold rathed.

the seasonic G-360 with 5 drives is more than enough... so i guess even with 8 would work ok but if u want to be sure go with the 450w
