I've built Freenas 2 years ago, with specification on my signature. Now I want to build another Freenas 8 machine to serve my storage needs.

Here the proposed specification:

Processor: Intel G645 or Intel Core i3-3120 or Intel Core i3-3220
Mainboard: MSI B75MA-P45 (has 6 satas and 4 DDR3 Slots)
RAM: 2x8GB (upgradeable to 4x8GB later if needed)
HDD: 6x3TB WD Red on ZFS RAIDZ2
Power Supply: Seasonic SS-650HT 650Watt (has 6 power satas)
Case: Fractal Design Core 3000

I'm still not sure about the processor, is it enough and safe for long run just using Intel G45?
Please advised. Thanks

What's the usage? Home or work? One or fifty concurrent users? SMB shares or iSCSI VM storage?

At home I use little tiny dual Phenom II 1.3GHz, no problems at all. At work, an old Q6600 (quad Core2 part), no problems for a dozen people in the local office. It's unlikely that an i3 won't do all you need, but... more info?

It's for home office usage, around 12-15 users, with SMB shares.

I think G645 will do a good job, what do you think Jaimie?

Thumbs up, even the lower one is about twice as quick as mine, so in similar usage so won't be an issue.
