Hi,

Two questions in one here.

Yes sorry its another question about transmission. And just to be sure, yes I am using it for legal purposes.

1:
The only way I seem to be able to get it working is setting the permissions to /media to 777 or read write execute for all owner, group and other. I don't like the idea of this as it seems a bit unsafe (even if I am not open to the internet yet).

How do I get it to realise that transmission is part of a group so I can stop guests messing about with my files.

2:
When the file is downloaded I want to move it into the windows share from the jail it is downloaded to. How do I get this to work. Do I have to use a torrent management program like couchpotato or will transmission do this for me as well?

For both questions the only tutorial I have found is for FreeNAS 9.2 and a old version of Transmission, which seem to be slightly different in the menu setup, not sure if this is causing some of the issues.

Thanks

Mash

1) I have a thread about permissions in the how-to > configuration section that may be helpful.
2) you might be able to accomplish what you want by setting the download directory and incomplete directory as different places. the incomplete directory option is in the freenas transmission menu, in the left panel.
if you want a more automated setup with more options you probably need to use couchpotato, an optionally nzbtomedia.

Thanks for the link, sorted my first question out straight away.

The second question is causing a bit of problem still. In the new transmission menu it doesn't have a download directory it has Watch Directory, Incomplete Download Directory and Script Torrent Done. I am guessing Script Torrent Done is the download directory?

Also I have just noticed that transmission keeps resetting its download path to //Downloads. Do you know a way to stop this?

Thanks for your help again.

you're guess is wrong. most of those are fairly advanced settings you don't need to touch. most settings are available in the transmission webui.

Okay I will avoid changing these then. Is there a documentation for using transmission with FreeNAS or not?

not that I know of speccific to freenas. what you need to know specifically? pretty much any option you'd need to change is in the transmission webui, or that freenas menu. and transmission works the same as on any other OS

I would like to know what the options in these menu's are doing. And how to set them up to place the files I am downloading in the places I want.

all transmission settings are detailed here. the names pretty well match, except the permission one, which i mapped to the umask option as nearly no one understand the octal permission scheme transmission uses.

the second screenshot is a jail mountpoint. that's explained in the freenas docs

Excellent thank you, I will have a look at the documents. I should have realised that I could read about the second on in the docs but was concentrating way too much on the first menu.

goodluck. so realize most of the settings people care about like download location and quotas are in available directly in transmission via its webui or remote interface.
