Plex libary folder accessible separately from media folder.

Can someone explain to me if it is possible:
To install the plex app incl the library folder separate from the media folder.
I have been running into the problem for some time that I can only access the media folder in plex if the library folder is in the media folder.
If I choose the media folder at hostpad then the library folder appears there.
I don't want any other files in the media folder.
How can I still reach the media folder in plex.
