Plex is hiding mountpoint destination folders

Hello,

I am having a problem with setting up Plex. When I set a mountpoint, the destination folder disappears from the adding library dialogue when I get to it. What could be causing this? I found this tutorial supposedly solving the same problem I had (reddit user said he solved it and made this video as far as I can tell). My issue is that I only have two lines after ls -al where I only see the root users. I really have no idea what to do next. Please advise.
