First off I have seen and read a couple of similar posts on this area, including this recent one http://forums.freenas.org/index.php...e-my-library-automatically.16242/#post-106230 but my issue seems to be a little different. If I should have added to that post please advise but I felt this was sufficiently different.
A little over a week ago I completed setup of my new freeNAS box and after lots of reading posts here and researching, I got Plex MS up and running. I transferred all my media over to folders on the freeNAS box, pointed Plex to it and everything worked great. For context I should point out that I have been running Plex via my iMac for well over a year using an external hard drive for storage and had no issues.
My problem I noticed last night is that when I add new TV shows to the folders on my freeNAS box they do not show up in Plex. I never had this issue previously when using my iMac, new files would show up very quickly and reliably. Here is what I have done so far:
- Confirmed permissions are set correctly on the files specifically chmod -777. All permissions are correct and I can access and play the raw files in VLC no problem. I can also access the files via ftp and through Finder
- Performed a deep scan both at the top and folder levels of the structure
- Checked Plex settings for library update to force automatic refresh on schedule
- Reviewed and triple checked the naming convention of all my folders using the Plex documentation. Since I copied these over exactly from the other drive and this setup worked perfectly on the iMac I doubted this could be wrong, but I have checked it anyway.
There is one interesting conundrum I noticed before that could be the root of my problem ... one troubleshooting step I took was to try adding the folder back in to the library in the hopes of forcing a refresh. When I do this it allows me to navigate to the folders holding my media, and select one but at the final step to save that change, a red x appears to the right of my folder and it will not allow me to save. Has anyone seen this before or can anyone shed light on where to troubleshoot it?
Thanks in advance for taking the time.
