I have a plex install via plugins from April 2016. It is running fine with auto updates running the latest plex pass version. I just wanted to know if there would be any point / benefits if I were to reinstall in a FreeBSD 11 jail manually?

If you were to install plex from the FreeBSD latest package repo then you'd get the newest plex builds. It's a little more work that way, but I prefer it to plug-ins where you're at the mercy of the plug-in maintainer to keep things up-to-date.

I seem to not have any issues with that using the PMS_Updater script on github. I get the new builds the day they are posted on the plex website. Have a cron job check for updates at 7am every day. The new update notification never lasts more than 24 hours.

First of all... If it isn't broke, Don't Fix It!

Second, if your FreeNAS server is exposed directly to the internet then FreeNAS 11 will have security updates included. If it's not exposed to the internet then I refer you back to my first line.
