Hi guys,

Using 9.2.1.9

I've installed PlexMediaServer v0.9.11.1.678 using the automated installation through FreeNAS plugins.

Jail is configured, storage is shared, server is up, everything works AWESOME.

A few question though :

1) When in Configuration > Server > General
I keep getting an error message saying that the update didn't not work and that I should install the update manually.
Is that normal / wanted?
Should I install the update manually?
How ?
I don't want to mess up anything!

2) When in Configuration > Server > Connection
Every time I try to connect my server, it will not work.
Keeps saying that there was an error while trying to connect.

Those two problems above seem to be related to connectivity but everything else work fine!
I have a pfSense firewall with no proxy, no fancy setting, not anything configured except trafic shaping which, in the worst case scenario, would make it to process slower but never block it!
Also, downloading movie and TVshow info worst fantastic and fast!

Ignore the first error it's a Plex bug right now. As for the second one follow the directions that are given by Plex and forward port 32400.

Awesome !! Thanks !

I forgot another question:

In FreeNAS the only plugin option is to "Disable remote security" (which is a checkbox)

I've been trying to Google it but I only find threads which sometimes say to disable it, sometimes say not to disable it.

In the end, I can't find documentation on what this actually does.

Any clue ?

as far as I understand... before you setup plex to use official plex account logins it allows logging in without a password. but it only allows this from IPs on the same subnet.

I agree with Joshua but that setting isn't called "Disable remote security" it is called "Require authentication on local networks" and it lives in the plex configuration. So i don't have any clue what BlazeStar is talking about. If you have a plex question you can better better help on the plex forums. They even have a FreeBSD section that is filled with FreeNAS questions. https://forums.plex.tv/index.php/forum/138-freebsd/

Good luck. I gave up on pfsense because I couldn't get my jails to communicate with the outside world.

really? did you not just have them pick IPs in the subnet range? I've never had an issue with this.

I should have prefaced that statement with the fact that my network knowledge is severely limited. But having said that I did follow the manual to the letter on port forwarding as well as several suggestions I found in the psense forums and had no luck at all. It's unfortunate too because other than that one issue I really like pfsense but that also made it a deal breaker for me.
