Okay thank you. I will report back in the morning. If no problems with the memory (which I am pretty sure), I will reinstall Freenas on a different USB stick and run auto import, right?
Thanks once again.

In situations like this, I think it's ALWAYS better to work from a separate NEW installation on a completely different USB stick without restoring any config. Trying to diagnose zfs problems when the OS is trying to mount it automatically etc. just adds another level of potential problems to the heap. A clean install on different stick "just boots" and you can then cleanly work on diagnosing things.

I think we need a separate section of the forums to move these threads to AFTER they're resolved or after we know it can't be resolved so future users can more easily find and see the step taken, or at least easier for those of us trying to help so that we can reference them.

Entirely.

I was thinking the same thing with the USB being bad. Except if the USB was good and we get the same error it could make us thinking something with the zpool is bad. So I figured lets make sure the computer isn't losing its mind first. :P

Differen't path, but in the end we should get to the same destination.

I also had the thought of trying a different USB flash drive with a fresh load but I feel the experts are involved now. Zpools is really not my strength.

Good morning...

Well memtest is almost done now with the 3rd pass... And memory is fine.
So I will no reinstall FreeNAS on a different USB stick and report back later.

On a sidenote; reinstalling FreeNAS and setting everything up again (users, jails, sabnzbd, couchpotato, etc. etc.) will be a lot of work. And what about those settings? All movies I haved added to Coachpotato en series to Sickbeard (and not to mention all search settings). Will I be able to restore those settings?

//update

I don't know if it's possible, but can I save the configuration files from Sabnzbd, Couchpotato and Sickbeard? So I don't have re-add everything en setup everything again?

Right now don't worry about any of that stuff. The goal right now is to diagnose/mount your pool. Once that's done we can figure getting your settings. The configuration files for the plugins are ALL still inside the plugin jail. Keep your old USB and don't do anything with it. Wait for one of us to confirm your next step, even when you think you might have things working.

Okay thanks. Than I will reinstall FreeNAS on a different USB.

Sidenote; I don't know if it's important at all, but I have the following setting in FreeNAS:
Swap size on each drive in GiB, affects new disks only. Setting this to 0 disables swap creation completely (STRONGLY DISCOURAGED) at 20.

I changed this setting from the first time I installed FreeNAS.

Anyways downloading the ISO now of FreeNAS 8.3.0 and will find a new USB stick. Will report back later.
I did save my current FreeNAS configuration file to my laptop, just for reference.

Okay I will now re-install FreeNAS.

After installation is done, should I first try to "auto import volume" option in the FreeNAS GUI?
...or should I do something else first?

I'd just try a "zpool import" from the command line first and see if there are any errors. If that looks ok, then try the "auto import".

I'm probably going to sleep in about 45 minutes, so I may not be able to finish. Cyberjock may be around, but be patient and don't take any risks if I can't reply. PaleoN probably won't be around until tomorrow sometime.

Okay thank you. No problem, I am already happy you guys are trying to help me!

Okay did the command "zpool import" and it says the same thing as on the other FreeNAS install:

Code:
[root@freenas ~]# zpool import

[root@freenas ~]#

Guess I should now try auto import?

//update

Tried auto import volume from the GUI, but it said failed or something. Will try to do it from the command line, but I don't know the right command. Will look it up in the meantime.

Well I tried to import the volume by numeric identifier:

Code:
[root@freenas] ~# zpool import 17472259698871586545
cannot import 'storage': I/O error
Destroy and re-create the pool from
        a backup source.

And it gives me the same result as with the old FreeNAS installation.

Doesn't this mean it's NOT the USB stick? Because the message is exactly the same as yesterday.
The only difference is, is that I now don't have any volumes showing in the GUI, where I yesterday had the following (which was incorrect of course):

Code:
storage /mnt/storage 6.0 KiB (8%) 752.0 KiB 823.5 KiB UNKNOWN

This showed up with the "old" installation of FreeNAS.
Now it says: No volumes defined

Should I try this command?
Code:
zpool import -fF storage

I also re-ran the commands which were given to me yesterday. Outputs are below

Code:
[root@freenas] ~# dmesg

Probably not useful, but I want to mention everything so someone can provide a workable solution.

Just do "zpool import" without anything else. Don't worry about the GUI right now.

EDIT: Always helpful to see updated info, thanks!

That was the first thing I tried and this was the result:

Code:
[root@freenas] ~# zpool import
   pool: storage
     id: 17472259698871586545
  state: ONLINE
action: The pool can be imported using its name or numeric identifier.
 config:

        storage ONLINE
          raidz2-0 ONLINE
            gptid/19177fb9-25fa-11e2-9ab0-00151736994a ONLINE
            gptid/19b5ec3a-25fa-11e2-9ab0-00151736994a ONLINE
            gptid/3dc2f956-3de6-11e2-8af1-00151736994a ONLINE
            gptid/1aefa3e9-25fa-11e2-9ab0-00151736994a ONLINE
            gptid/1b8f2b64-25fa-11e2-9ab0-00151736994a ONLINE
            gptid/1c2d6a74-25fa-11e2-9ab0-00151736994a ONLINE
[root@freenas] ~#

Than I tried to import it by ID, as mentioned above, which gave me this:

Code:
[root@freenas] ~# zpool import 17472259698871586545
cannot import 'storage': I/O error
Destroy and re-create the pool from
        a backup source.

Which is the exact same message I got on the "old" FreeNAS installation (last night). :(

I don't know if this command will do anything:

Code:
zpool import -fF storage

I read it here from another thread: http://forums.freenas.org/showthread.php?3193-Help-needed-for-recovering-data-from-zpool-i-can-t-import

Yes, I know about that command. Don't do it.

It looks like the Auto-Import should work. Try that real quick and I'll wait to see what happens.

Okay.

Well I tried it through the GUI and it gave me the following error:

Code:
Mar 16 03:20:37 freenas manage.py: [middleware.exceptions:38] [MiddlewareError: The volume "storage" failed to import, for futher details check pool status]

And I don't know the command for the shell to auto-import?

Hmm, that's strange. Ok, try this:

mount -uw /

zpool import -f (only 1 f, lowercase)
