Perplexed by very quick failure of 2 flash drives

Both drives are still completely error free after 1.5 years of service in my 24/7 machine. At this point the recommendation by other users is strongly confirmed.

I had several Cruzer Fit go bad, and moving the system dataset did not stop them from dying. So i changed to Kingston DT something... but i just recently had the second one die and i gave up. Running a Intel 320 SSD now.

There is only one type of thumb drive that has not done that for me: Sandisk Cruzer Fit

I can confirm that after a couple of years I’ve still had very good luck with a half dozen or so Cruzer Fit 16GB USB3 drives.

I hope it's OK to necro this thread once. Both of the drives are still going strong without any failures.
No problem because you are actually just updating the status with valuable data. Knowing a specific USB Flash drive has a long life under FreeNAS is a good thing.
