Hi,

for my existing vpn's i switched from the raw community edition server to the "access server" package long time ago, mainly because of the additional server web interface and the client ability to download hassle free autologin clients for all common OS's.

I wonder if its possible to install one of the provided linux packages to FreeNAS and have it running without problems? If so what package format is preferred, since they provide a wide array of supported linux distributions: https://openvpn.net/index.php/access-server/download-openvpn-as-sw.html

Maybe anyone already did this?

thx Andy

PS: I understand that the "raw" community openvpn client/server is already available in FreeNAS out of the box, but its more complex to setup and maintain and i did not find a "nice" webui to configure it inside FreeNAS.

Nope, i simply use a very cheap VPS running CentOS + OpenVPN AS now and had switched over to nas4free for my NAS needs. I would prefer the openVPN cloud machines (amazon/cloudsigma) or a docker package to remove maintaining the OS at all, but a linux VPS is so cheap that i can live with the occasionally command line stuff.
