(Re)Build complete. I ended up disconnecting the HDDs while installing the SSD ... it made finding the SSD in the boot order much easier. What else helped was plugging the SSD into a SATA port that worked. One of my SATA III ports is non-functional. I know all 8 of my SAS ports are functioning (that is where the HDDs are plugged in). I will have to test the others ... and then talk to Supermicro.
