Build advice for a FreeNAS box including transcoding

Ah thanks. I may stick to mirrors if I can grow, and start with 2 drives as I can fund that sooner. I'm fine with loss of storage for redundancy, I'm a paranoid data hoarder and will also have lots of external backups on top of the mirror redundancy

Then just start with 2 disks. Each time you get a space warning, buy another two disks ;) at whatever size is the then sweet spot. (Currently 4TB).

Don't forget to burnin the disks.

Once you run out of Sata ports begin replacing smaller drives with bigger ones.

Having finally won the discussion, modified build here. Am I right in ignoring the "compatibility" issue, as SuperMicro seems to list the board as supporting M.2? (the m.2 will be the boot drive)
