So pretty much as the title asks, how can I tell if my system supports hot-swappable drives? What are the hardware components that I need to check to see if it's supported?

This is my current system:

  • Intel - Xeon E3-1230 V5 3.4 GHz Quad-Core Processor
  • Cooler Master - Hyper 212 EVO 82.9 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler
  • Supermicro - MBD-X11SSM-F-O Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard
  • Crucial - 16 GB (1 x 16 GB) DDR4-2133 Memory
  • (4x) Western Digital - Red 3 TB 3.5" 5400RPM Internal Hard Drive
  • Fractal Design - Node 804 MicroATX Mid Tower Case
  • EVGA - 500 W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply
Thanks!

Put a drive in while the system is up and running and see if the system can access it :)

Did you find the answer to your question?
I didn't. I'm just trying to verify if it's dependent exclusively on the motherboard or if there is other hardware I need to check in order to see if the feature is supported.
