Hi everyone,

I tried to install windows server 2016 as a VM in FreeNAS 11.3 RC1
I saw some guys on youtube, he can install windows variant there. but I got a problem, VM can start but not responding, get stopped until i restart.

Does this 11.3 problem or another version also have this isssue?

Copying in my post from before for context:

So, with 11.3 you'll get a lot more stability using VirtIO. If you haven't customized your install very far, I'd suggest reinstalling with a VirtIO network card and VirtIO disk. You'll need VirtIO drivers (i.e. from the Fedora project) and can follow a guide like this one to get it done. You'll not need anything more than the storage and network driver.

I have also posted the steps on switching the AHCI drive to VirtIO here, if a clean install isn't desirable.

AFAIK the latest plan was to try reinstalling with VirtIO so we'll see what happens next.

Thank you, you are so nice! Very good support.
First sight, :) I can see the VirtIO disk :) i am going to install VirtIO for the network after complete install windows, it seems . If VM can run well for me, so I have no any concern to use FreeNAS for our system. I test and run, install many time to get stable solution for us.

Well, the NIC is obviously working because you got an IP address. Does 192.168.1.143 look correct to you?
Also, it appears your DHCP server named 192.168.1.2 as your default gateway. Does that look correct?

Also, is there an actual cable connected to bge2 ? If no, even assigning a static IP to the NIC will not work.
