I'm new here and in the process of "upgrading" my storage system at home:
Right now I'm running a truecrypt encrypted raid5 of 6 2TB hdds on a 3ware LSI 9650se raid controller. The card is passed through to an esxi host windows 2008 server which does the mounting (tc) and sharing.
The CPU is a Xeon E3-1265L v2.
Now my hdds are starting to fail and I was thinking about getting 5 3TB REDs and set up a new raid.
Since I'm not completelly happy with the performance of the controller as far as truecrypt is involved and the limited flexibility (no resizing of truecrypt images) I was thinking about using freenas.
Are there any recommendations regarding this particular setup ?
BTW windows 2008 is just my fileserver and doesn't have any other functions in our network so switching to freenas wouldn't be an issue.
