Nextcloud 22 - Sharing and Permissions

I am trying to figure out how to keep certain users from deleting folders and the files contained within. I'd like them to have access to these folders and files, open them, download them, share them, but not DELETE them,

I am having a hard time within nextcloud trying to figure out how to do this. If it's "File Access Control" - I am having a hard time setting this up for the above referenced scenario....

Hey @asw2012,

According to what you said, you need to have these folders / files owned by a first user like yourself and then re-share them to these other users as read-only. That is basic sharing within Nextcloud between users and groups.

You might want to look into the group folders plugin in Nextcloud.

I've been able to share the folders with upload/edit/read properties (no delete).
User can click the link, get into the folder but the user tries to add the folder to their nextcloud and gets the following error... we enter username@"mynextcloudinstance.com" - wondering if I need to do something extra on the server side, or else are we doing something wrong on the user side?

The Group Folders are really what I'm looking for in all folders, ability to shove people into groups and edit permissions per group. But, I am using External Storage (mounting existing datasets from TrueNAS box).

It looks like you try using Federation links. That is way more complicated and it is designed for links from one Nextcloud --SERVER-- to another Nextcloud --SERVER--. For sharing from one Nextcloud user on a server to another user on the same server, just do the basic sharing.
--You create a folder in your own account
--You click the 3 dots at the end of the line and view the details
--That will open a right panel with a few tabs in it, including SHARING
--In that sharing section, select the users / groups you wish to share with
--For each case, select the option you wish to offer (read only, etc.)
