I have FN installed and am starting to provision datasets. I know how to use Linux, but I'm more used to the Windows permission style. But in my setup, I have both Linux and Windows users/hosts accessing shares, so I'm not certain how to set everything up.

I have an existing datastore, but how do I set up different CIFS and NFS permissions on it? I never see customizable options when creating the shares.

I must have missed that part. Can you modify permissions on a specific share? Or only when datasets are created?

You can set the premissions for the dataset and/or its children through the GUI, but it is all or nothing. Anything finer than that, like per-file permissions, will have to he done that the CLI or a client connected to the share. Of course, this client when have to have permission to change permissons. :)

On the whole, over a range of users and machines, it is easier to get Linux using CIFS shares than Windows using NFS. Probably.

CIFS will be the easiest to implement across multiple OSs.
