I am looking to do a baremetal install of FreeNAS with 2 proc and 32 GB of RAM. The network is 1 gbps network but could do LACP to give the server 2 gbps. I have 6 drive bays and 6 x 2 TB drives and 2 x 64 GB SSD. I am looking to use this FreeNAS server as the datastore for 3 VMware servers using NFS.
With this number of drives it seems I have a couple of options:
1. RAIDZ (4 data + 1 parity + 1 SSD L2ARC)
2. RAIDZ2 (4 data + 2 parity)
Am I not considering any other options? What would your experience with either option guide you to?
