Need help with smartctl to set attr 194 to Always

Checking on my newly-installed SSD SMART values, I found out that the table column labaled "UPDATED" at attribute 194 (Temperature) says "Offline" (meaning that its value is updated only during off-line data collection activities) and reports a never-changing 40°C.
I want to keep that value current, so that my case fans don't run at full speed all the time (courtesy of Stux's script).
And that would happen if I set it to Always, right?
But how do I do that??
By the way, my hard disk drives are set to Always by default, I didn't have to change anything, so why does this happen only with this SSD (Amazon's Drevo X1 Pro)?

This SSD is not even in smartmontools' database!
Could that be why all attributes are updated only when the Offline test is executed (every 4 hours by default) and not Always (like it's supposed to be)?

For some reason, I can't even boot from it.
I'm going to return it and order an SSD from a better-reknown brand, as is generally suggested.
