Hey ho,

So I am finally going to upgrade my server after lots of deliberation. Everything in the server is going to be new however I obviously want to keep my current drives and data.
So my questions are:
1) do i need to reinstall freeNAS on my flash disk as the system is completly different? (Im pretty sure this is a yes but just checking)
2) Once im all setup again will FreeNAS recognise my old ZRaid and just let me 'remount' it? or do I have to wipe and transfer everything over from my backups?

If you need any more information let me know.

Cheers

You should be able to move both the HDD's and the flash drive to the new system. If the NIC is different you will need to reconfigure that connection, but otherwise it should be easy.

I would ensure that you have a backup of your configuration file, just in case you need it.

1. No

2. No need to do anything.

*move thumbdrive and data drives to new system. Power on system. Fix IP address/nic assignment. Enjoy.
