Mod: How to use add-on card with "shortie" bracket in standard case

I found a gigabit NIC for $10 but it had the short bracket. I came up with a mod to get it to work. (Photo attached) I used "tin snips" to cut the top of the shortie bracket off. Then I took a bracket "cover" (that comes with a case) and cut off the length of the shortie bracket. The total length of the two pieces should equal the original length of the bracket cover. I installed the NIC then screwed in the modified bracket cover. All is secure.

you can also find an old NIC and steal it's backplate. for reference, they are called 'half height'.
