Mixed build with HBA

Hi All,

I'd like to know if FreeNAS will work with this controller: LSI HBA SAS9300-16I (L5-25600-00) (PCI-E 3.0 x8, LP, INTERNAL) SGL SAS 12G
Also I want to mix RAID with internal in motherboard SATA + this HBA. So in result about 19 Discs.
What CPU and RAM needed for this?
I have core i3 first gen and 10 GB RAM.

If you have not purchased the 9300-16i yet, my suggestion is to hold off for now
until you read this thread/resource found at the link below.
My short amount of research points to the fact that it has been used with FreeNAS successfully,
but I have no personal experience with this card.

Please note that a 12G SAS3 card is gross overkill UNLESS you are building a pool with SSDs!

Even though it is possible to build a perfectly functioning FreeNAS with hardware that is not new, it does need to be reasonably modern and support the minimum standards that you can find here: http://www.freenas.org/hardware-requirements/

Hi,

Thank you for information. As far As I read this card supported. Reason why I'm using this great HBA cuz in Russia difficult to get more simple and cheap controllers. Aliexpress sold fake controllers which have not enought performance and may not be supported by system and amazon not deliver to Russia. Use 3rd party companies to transfer is also difficult due to customs.

So now I'm sure that my build will work. Thanks for it :)
