LR-Link LREC6860BT uses the Tehuti Networks TN9710x chipset (which contains the TN4010 10gigabit MAC and Marvell Alaska X 88X3310P transceiver). It is available for $85.10 delivered from China from their official Aliexpress store: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/LR-...45-Server-Adapter-Controller/32862333948.html

There is no FreeBSD driver available unfortunately, it has Win/MacOS/Linux/vmware ESXi drivers. More info:

Lets hope someone creates a FreeBSD driver for this and the Aqantia AQC107/AQC108 10 gigabit ethernet chips so that we can run freenas with low cost 10gigabit ethernet ports.

For a home system it's hard to justify the expense as you can get old 10gb cards for about $30.

What? I paid about $15 each for my 10Gb cards. You are looking at the wrong kind of hardware.
This is what you should be looking at:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/MNPA19-XTR...2-PCIe-X8-10Gbe-SFP-NETWORK-CARD/131634470127
or, if you want the better option:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Chelsio-10...8-30-Includes-2x-SFP-Tranceivers/162697162907

You can also easily build your own 10Gb switch, I did and it works well, using the instructions found here:

and here:

I used all parts I had laying around plus a couple network cards I picked up really cheap.

A FreeBSD driver for Tehuti's TN4010 based NICs is already under development. Stay tuned.

That doesn't do anything about the price being four times higher than the SFP+ hardware that is available and working great right now.

Do you have any recommendations for NICs with RJ45 connections?

I also need a switch. I only need 10GbE between my freeNAS and one computer, so 5 ports would be sufficient.

No reason for a switch, direct connect works fine.

You might not need a switch, but I need a switch due to how my cable runs are. I have my server in a storage room, where it is connected via ethernet cables in the wall, to my main media setup, where I have a switch and router. From here, I have another ethernet cable stretch to another room, where I have my main computer. So yeah, I need a switch.

I ended up buying a Netgear Nighthawk SX10. It only has two 10GbE ports, but it is enough to connect both the server, and my computer to the switch, and the switch to the router and other devices. That way, I have a 10gig connection between the computer and server, and a 1Gig connection to everything else.

I also bought this NIC for my computer: https://www.asus.com/us/Networking/XG-C100C/

And are considering one of these for my freeNAS:
  1. Best: Chelsio T520-BT
  2. Good: Intel X550-T2
  3. Good: Chelsio T420-BT
  4. Good: Intel X540-T2
Does anyone see any issues with this solution?

I am thinking put my freenas in a garage (3-4 floors down) and i thinking connect to 10 Gbit to my home, i am thinking about put fiber or network cable FTP or UTP, what is the best and cheap option???
How about put fiber and directly put card in freenas and transceiver to my home switch??? i need one new switch to my home, only need 8 ports +SFP to put in freenas SFP 10Gb
Thank you !!!

Thanks for your post, you just opened my eyes to the possibility of using 10 Gbit in my new need.
I'm thinking of lowering my server to the garage, there will be cooler and more sheltered and I will gain in space and less air conditioning  the issue is that I need to pull a cable of about 30-50 mts, so I have seen in the specifications of 10Gb SFP+, neither passive cables nor active cables support this distance, so I understand that I would have to go to fiber optics, I can pull a couple of single-mode fiber optics cables to the garage (I know one that has the machine to solder these cables)

My idea would be to mount a 2 port card in the garage server and another 10 Gb SFP+ in my main home PC, the other port would go to the switch (for now) gigabit of my house, I understand that being so I should buy the following:
1 card 2 ports 10 Gb SFP+
1 card 1 port 10 Gb SFP+
4 SFP+ transceivers single mode optical fiber

Connectors ?

Suggestions? some big mistake in my proposal???

Thank you for your help
