Just upgraded from FreeNAS to TrueNAS, what a pain...

Not sure why things have to be so difficult, you know I had my Freenas System running with no issues. I only use for my home plex. I upgraded and now my samba shares don't work, can't map drives. So I went from a working system to a non working system so to speak. No wonder people run from Linux, BSD and the others. The actual upgrade went fine, but try to access afterwards is a nightmare.

I have gotten to as far as getting shares to map manually just not automagically as they did before the upgrade. Access via Samba I can see I just can't write to them anymore. Not sure why I need to relearn everything after using for so long, not sure who thought this was a good idea.

Really? Because at this point, most of the world runs on "Linux, BSD and the others". And of course, what are the options? Windows? Stuff stops working in Windows Server all the time, people make a full time living from it. But this doesn't sound like a "Linux" or "BSD" problem that you're having.

There were some recent changes made by the Samba project that resulted in some differences in how this all worked, and one of the main ones, IIRC, was that it is no longer possible to use root for sharing, and some other things that were mentioned in the TrueNAS release notes.
