Jellyfin not detecting media in subfolders

Hi. Total noob to TrueNAS trying to setup his first NAS here.

I am trying to get Jellyfin working to see if I like it as a media playback application. But I am running into an issue with JF not detecting the media in the folders.

I have my main Media dataset with 2 subfolders created in TrueNAS. Followed this https://docs.xstar97thenoob.com/docs/platforms/scale/storage/media-and-downloads/ guide to set the permissions and this https://truecharts.org/charts/stable/jellyfin/how-to/ guide to install JF. JF detects both subfolders when adding Media Library - Folders.

After setting all this up I copied two movies into the Movies subfolder through windows. The files are named Name (year).mkv and Name (year).mp4.

Now my issue. How do I get JF to detect these movies?

Turned out the Movies and Series folders need to be directories made either in Shell or via Windows. Didn't catch that from the guides and made child datasets instead which clearly didn't work.

I don't see where in the documentation it specifies to either use the shell or windows, so I would have been lost without this thread. Thank you, that worked perfect, I made the same mistake and created the subfolders as datasets
