iXsystems reported 70% annual growth for its TrueNAS storage systems in 2021, which was the highest reported growth in the industry for storage systems. According to the analysis of 2021 data by Storage Newsletter, iXsystems was reported to stand alone in the systems category among the fastest-growing storage companies. We were also one of the three Open Source companies in the top 25, each of which was in the top 12.
iX also ranked 11th fastest overall, following software or cloud companies (the majority were small companies or startups). No longer small, our growth as a well-established, medium-sized company is noteworthy. iX is on track to continue setting revenue growth records. Within the 70% growth we saw in 2021, a 152% increase in partner-led engagements shows that IT organizations are requesting Open Source solutions from their preferred resellers and that resellers are also finding success in offering TrueNAS as a choice. As organizations look to satisfy demanding growth in an inflationary market, we believe the time has come for Open Source to serve as a preferred choice for many workloads.
We’re proud to be recognized and acknowledged for the tremendous growth we had in 2021. To have growth in the systems category is not without effort, especially with our sizable revenue base where 70% growth is tens of millions of dollars compared to triple-digit growth from a small revenue base. Hard work aligns with our core values, going back to our bootstrapped beginnings, as covered in Forbes.
Other core values that differentiate iX also play a part in our growth. We take pride in being Open Source Trailblazers and always strive to think of people first before profit. Focusing on user experience is how we have been able to develop the quality and functionality of TrueNAS. Our users and customers are the driving force behind the maturity of TrueNAS, and our industry-leading growth was made real by their choice of TrueNAS for their storage requirements.
Our recent TrueNAS Enterprise customer experience survey indicated that 88% of customers reported a good or excellent experience using TrueNAS Enterprise systems and 90% said they had a good or excellent experience, with several comments of praise for the knowledge and professionalism of the iX Support Team. As we continue to our core value of “pursue kaizen” (continuous improvement), we are motivated to continue developing solutions that will change how Enterprises consume storage. The accolades are just a nice bonus.
iX has grown into a mid-size company powered by individuals from all over the world who have devoted themselves to providing the best value and true data freedom. We are always looking for people who share the same passion for Open Source with a clear motivation for excellence. We currently have more than 50 open positions and a new office building and data center in Tennessee.
