I want to set up a FreeNas machine that is browseable on a basic windows network, so far my attempts have failed. I have set up earlier versions that worked with a minimum of trouble, but version 11.1 is asking for things during the setup wizard that I either don't understand or don't need, but will not let me skip, (such as the domain name). My machine will be on a basic home network, there is no domain controller, (unless FreeNas now requires that I set one up). The user documentation is an entire book's worth of information, much of which doesn't apply to my very basic setup. Is there a step-by step walkthrough from beginning (The Wizard) to end (configuring the share, and the required services?) I have successfully installed to a usb drive, I can access the GUI from a machine on the network, now I just want set up the shared folder and have it appear in Windows explorer. It seems this should be a simple thing to do, but after 5 tries I'm no closer than I was, and none of the tutorials I've run across have helped, as they skip steps or are for older versions. If anybody has a link to a proper tutorial that picks up at the point that FreeNas is running and accessible I'd appreciate a link. Thanks.

@m0nkey_ has you covered, and so does the forum search.
Thanks, I don't understand what you meant by "Monkey" has me covered, when I click on Monkey I see information about the user Monkey, I went to his profile and looked at his posts, lots of detailed info about specific problems but not a walkthrough, or step by step. The video is more helpful, but still doesn't start from the first run wizard. Sorry if I'm missing something, I do appreciate your reply.

When a username is prefixed with an @ it links to their profile, in this case mine. Indeed, my profile is pretty useless :D .. the video is awesome though!

It also credits the author in a traceable way (good or bad :P) and that is why I do it ^^
