is FreeNAS for me

ok so i have been looking at freenas for a wile now but just want to confirm it can do everything i want it to do befor i go ahead and build it...

i want to be able to load all my music, films and pictures on my freenas computer (yet to build).

so i can play them throw my network and over the internet on my computer, laptop and android phone/tablet.

i also dont want to have to download a film to my computer hard drive just to play it from my freenas drive every time.

thanks for the help and go easy on me as im a noob with freenas (yet to learn)

With plugins, all this and more (may be) possible. It's not gonna be a turnkey process though.

also if i set up a soft raidz2 with 10 2tb hard drives i will have about 15tb of storage.

but if i want to add more at a later date could i put another soft raidz group of hard drives and link it so once my my 1st set of hard drives are filled it sarts putting them on the 2nd set of hardrives

i.e. 10x 2tb hdd's raidz2 once filled start filling 2nd set of 10x 2tb hdd's in raidz2 witch have been installed later

You can stripe together RAID-Z(2) groups, yes. In that case it would immediately begin spreading data across both groups as a single logical volume (it would not wait until the first set is full to begin filling the new ones)

As ben said yes you can do exactly that. I wouldn't wait until the first 10 disk raidz2 is completely full however. If you do you will have uneven performance and put greater stress on the original raidz2 group. Perhaps get the 2nd 10 disk raidz2 group after you put 10TB of data on the original vdev.
