The motherboard I am getting is "ASRock C2550D4I Mini ITX Server Motherboard" which has:

- 2 x Intel® i210 (Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports)
- 1 x Dedicated IPMI LAN port

I have a Gigabit switch that will be sitting right next to this FreeNAS server and all machines (well, 4 of them) will be connected to the switch as well as the FreeNAS. My question is this... If I connect all 3 ports to the switch (ie, the 2 LANs and the IPMI port) to the switch...

1. Will I still be able to access the IPMI without any issues?
2. Will connecting the IPMI with the other LAN from all PC and server ports cause a problem?

I am still learning, so bear with my noobish questions :)

You only need ipmi and one LAN port. You do not need and should not plug in or use the second LAN port.

Good to know, I thought that of I hooked up both LANs it would make heavy data transfers easier and faster.

And if you (or DHCP) give the LAN port and the IPMI port different addresses on the same subnet there will be no problem at all connecting them to the same switch. Agreed, under most circumstances connecting both LAN ports will give you only problems.
