No matter what I do or follow tutorial wise can I NEVER get Plex to work, It can either finds the server but can't connect or not find the server at all. I have tried several times over the last few months and on the verge of giving up. Is there a minimum spec for freenas?? I tried to run a VM only to be told my CPU doesn't support virtualization. I thought the idea behind FreeNAS was that you could use older parts!!

This isn't entirely true. See the hardware guide in the resources section of the forum. here

That said, if you have enough RAM (you could have shared more hardware details with us so we can help you more easily), you will certainly be able to run the Plex Plugin/Jail.

It would also help us to know which FreeNAS version you are running (along with the hardware details) and what exactly you have tried that is failing.

In fact, it's never been at all true. The purpose of FreeNAS has never been to allow you to use whatever castoff old hardware you had laying around to build a NAS, and if that is your (or @FEDUPWITHTHIS') goal, a different OS should be considered.

This was closer to true with the product formerly known as FreeNAS, and now known as NAS4Free XigmaNAS, but even then that wasn't the objective.

Yes, there is. Have you read the manual?

Were you reading over any particular tutorials?
Were you installing plex via the plugin or as a jail?

I used this guide to install mine into a Jail and it went really smoothly.
