Hello everyone,

I'm doing something I should've done months ago when I assembled my TrueNAS system - adding a raid card in IT mode.

So it happens that I have my 3x4TB raid-z1 with the disks plugged directly to the board itself. Which precautions should I take to ensure no data loss? Will the pass-through work out of the box or should I prepare the system in some way?

I tried to find a topic about this matter but all I could find was people asking if the card was needed, or if a cheap m2 adapter would do the trick.

Ty in advance.

Your disks should move over without issue from the on-board SATA ports to the ports downstream of the HBA. Their device nodes will change from ada to da, but since ZFS tracks drives by GPTID, not port, your pool will be fine.

Just make sure the HBA is in IT mode, and has adequate cooling.

It was really just plug-and-play.
Everything seems to be good.

Thank you Samuel.
