I have been trying to install freenas 8 for some time now and can't seem to get it going. I have a headless pc with flash memory (1gig) in it. I downloaded FreeNAS-8.0-RELEASE-i386.Full_Install.xz and ran the following command:

xzcat FreeNAS-8.0-RELEASE-i386.Full_Install.xz | dd of=/dev/da1 bs=5k

It takes some time, but finishes w/o incident. Now when I put the CF card back in my PC, it shows a bunch of gibberish and doesn't boot. Anyone have any ideas? I have been able to use this pc for freenas 7, pfsense, and openwrt flawlessly. I cannot figure out why this is not working.

Can you describe your system? Model number/motherboard/etc. would be useful in case we can reproduce your situation.

Thanks!
