I’m adding a storage pool for the first time. I set up an admin pass. As root I listed my devices by typing parted and print devices.

I created a swap on install.

When I login to true NAS scale I can’t simply add storage. Apparently, I need to go in and create a boot pool as root?

There is only one 8tb Toshiba NAS drive. I followed a tutorial online to create a 32gb trueNAS scale partition and want to use the rest of the 8tb drive.

Any suggestions? The tutorial I was using has outdated syntax and commands.

What you're doing isn't supported (https://www.truenas.com/community/resources/i-have-to-waste-an-entire-drive-just-for-booting.187/), so you have 2 choices...

Go to a NAS OS which supports what you're doing (Xigmanas is one of those)

Use an unsupported guide to put you in a situation that will remain unsupported, but will probably work to some extent at least for a while.
