Anyone uses this? I was browsing eBay and thought the name sound funny. But price is right and seems like it's a good compromise. Cheaper then SATA DOM and about same size, will be easy to mount somewhere inside. Got it for my build. Will let you know how it worked..

It's SATA2, which...meh. It's a company at least I have never heard of. And it's a refurb.

Doesn't sound like the type of compromise we would recommend. Generally speaking, the FreeNAS community does not "compromise" on components sir, so I am going to vote thumbs down. That being said, it'll probably work just fine.

Honestly, any decent SSD will do fine. Think Crucial BX 100 or similar.

It's not so much about money, more about experimenting. If USB flash fails - what do we lose? Nothing. If config backed up. So.. I'm willing to try it. Brand is not known, but that doesn't mean it's bad. According to specs - those were manufactured for embedded devices. And my guess would be that they just have overstock of good solid hardware. Will see. And, according to specs it will be much faster and better than USB.

Here is some info I found about company:
http://www.thessdreview.com/daily-n...throughput-nvme-m-2-ssd-computex-2015-update/

it should also be noted that Phison is not a direct retail seller and provides their design to other SSD manufacturers for their sales, this specific SSD being considered presently as an enterprise resource, however, we will no doubt see this leaked to retail sales soon enough.

I guess I'm going to get another one for .system folder :)

Asus used Phison SSD's in their eeepc netbooks. Mine came with 2 and both are still working after 5 years.
