Hi,

I connected an external USB hard drive to copy some data over to my ZFS pool.
FreeNAS detected the USB drive, and it showed up in the "disks" section.
When I tried to import the drive, it appeared in the list of available drives, I selected UFS (as it is formatted USF) adn clicked import.
The "Importing" dialog appeared but *never* disapeared.
No error messages that I could see, nothing in the error log at the bottom of the screen.

Anyone know if this is a known bug or how I can see some more error information ?

Many thanks
Ian

If you have access to the console, you can use the command 'tail /var/log/messages' from the root shell to confirm the contents of the footer log. SSH would also suffice, if that's configured. Refreshing the GUI is generally pretty harmless, or you can open the GUI in another browser tab.

I forgot to say, I am running FreNAS 8.2 BETA 4.

When I plugged in the USB the following was written to the log:

Jul 11 16:43:18 freenas root: Unknown USB device: vendor 0x059b product 0x0475 bus uhub3
Jul 11 07:43:18 freenas kernel: ugen3.2: <Iomega> at usbus3
Jul 11 07:43:18 freenas kernel: umass1: <MSC Bulk-Only Transfer> on usbus3
Jul 11 07:43:19 freenas kernel: da1 at umass-sim1 bus 1 scbus9 target 0 lun 0
Jul 11 07:43:19 freenas kernel: da1: <SAMSUNG HD103SI > Fixed Direct Access SCSI-2 device
Jul 11 07:43:19 freenas kernel: da1: 40.000MB/s transfers
Jul 11 07:43:19 freenas kernel: da1: 953869MB (1953525168 512 byte sectors: 255H 63S/T 121601C)

But nothing was written after that when I tried to import the volumn.

/Ian
