Good evening. I have an external USB hard drive formatted with UFS working with my 9.2 FreeNAS. I gather that it would need to be converted to ZFS to work with 9.3. Others in the forums have said that ZFS on removable drives is a bad idea. Do I then interpret that as it is simply not possible or recommended to have an external USB hard drive going forward with 9.3? Or is there a workable solution?
Thanks,
IMF

I'd put it differently. USB drives are a bad idea.

They should be okay for a backup, but not for your main pool. The interface and USB/SATA bridges are just too unreliable.
