Hi,
I want to replace my current box (X8SI6 + L3426) with a more modern and energy saving alternative. There are two combinations I have in mind:
- Supermicro A2SDi-4C-HLN4F (Atom C3558)
or
- Supermicro X11SSM-F + Celeron G4930T
Computing wise, the current Xeon was utilized 40% at maximum, but mostly idle. Therefore I think, even though the new Atom less oomph than my old Xeon, it should be fine for a small nas with a couple of jails doing little work.
I could not find any information about idle power consumption, which is the main concern here. The questions is how does the idle power consumption compare between the two boards + CPU combinations? The Atom has less processing power, but I would assume it also has lower idle power. But by how much? It's hard to find information about idle power consumption on the Internet.
If I knew the idle difference I could make a more informed decision between the less beefy, more expensive Atom vs. the X11SSM-F + Celeron.
