I really don't need any display port, but it indicates improper handling. Should I RMA this?

I would. Who knows what else might be damaged.

Yeah, that's what i'm a bit concerned of. But the packaging was perfect, no dents in the box, nor in the box it was delivered in (together with other parts). It's the only part that (well...not in this pic) extends beyond the mobo plate anyway is this display port.

Heh, I'd just bend it back and run it but that's just kinda how I roll. :D

Yeah, me too usually. But since its a cpu/mobo combo (A1SRI-2558F) i'm hesitating

Call it something other than "display port", since DisplayPort is a completely different interface. ;)

Honestly, in this case, I'm not sure what I'd do. An RMA can be troublesome and the damage is minor and mostly inconsequential.

On the other hand, it can be indicative of prior mistreatment...

If you do a bit of googling you'll find that it's not that uncommon for the VGA and serial port connectors on Supermicro boards to be a bit out of kilter on arrival.

No surprise, given the ultra-slim footprint ports they use.

Yeah my VGA port was (is still,) at about the same angle as that serial port.

I would check to see if the connectors are actually damaged or if they were just installed incorrectly at an angle. If determined that it was just a build issue and you can live with it, plug it in, burn it in, and keep it. If you doubt the integrity of the product, I'd return it to the seller vice RMA and make a stink about it if you must to ensure they pay for return shipping. It's not your fault they screwed up.

However if the place you purchased it from has a fantastic return policy (they pay for return shipping), then you might consider that.

Also, just because the packaging doesn't look damaged doesn't' mean it wasn't dropped hard causing the damage by the shipper.

BTW: The serial port does look bad.

Yeah, ik think i will do some testing, since their return policy is a bit vague.
If the RMA is granted, a redelivery, repair or crediting of your RMA is performed. Should it appear that the RMA filed was unjustified, it will be returned and bill for research costs.
They'll probably just bend it back and charge me for an unjustified RMA.

Seems likely that they could try to make it out to be user error.
