You can use different vlans for different services, if it possible for you.

Add a VLAN, configure it in the tab "interfaces", later in the service, you can specify the address on which to listen to the selected service. The port on the switch must be in trunk mode.
Sorry, I don't understand that you can't configure at what stage.

Done and done!
the problem is how to make the jail use vlan, and make it successfully connect to the router/outside world
when ever i make a vlan in the tab "interfaces" it takes 1 ip adress, correct? even that i can't see been leased/static in my router.. and therefore when i try following that guide on how to enable the vlan in jails the jails can't connect anywhere at all

In the settings interface your VLAN is it possible to specify a gateway? If not, then you need to write static routes for each VLAN.

Erhm. In FreeNAS 11-u4 No, this is not possible.
But there is a static routes tab next to interfaces.
But how to use?

Your vlan 250 has a network (for example: 192.168.250.0/24) and a gateway (192.168.250.1)
The route will be like this:
Destination network: 192.168.250.0/24
Gateway: 192.168.250.1
Description: VLAN250 (it is optional)

i figured out that i can't have VIMAGE enabled in jails ?!? when i uncheck it, do the echo "250" > iface into the .jail.meta/iface it works now!
what is VIMAGE anyway ?
