how to give plex permissions to delete files?

Hi.
I have used this guide that Jruehlig has provided on his blog to install everything. Then I installed plex using the plugin and mounted the media folder to plex plugin. Plex is working perfectly but hasn't got the rights to delet files and I don't want to start experimenting because I don't trust myself that I could find the right setttings. So I am asking now for your help. How do I get plex to delete files from my media folder?

I have been thinking that plex probably would get permissions if it was set to use user media?

Then an other question. CIFS how do I configure CIFS to this same folder so I can mange my files with windows too? Here it is the same thing I don't want to experiment becaues I am quite sure about that I'll do something to break my jails.

Here the same thing I would need to log in from windows as user media?

setting plex to use user 'media' would be solution 2 from here.

I've recently deployed CIFS and did what your idea is. I create a 'media' user on freenas with UID 816, then add the option 'force user = media' to the CIFS share.

Thanks for that and for the guide you have done, it was really nice and made it easy to get everything to work.

I got the plex to work but how do I force media as the user on CIFS?

I add the force user statement I quoted to the share's auxiliary parameters.

Problem.. Now it started to ask about a password.. I tried from windows to log in as root and password but it didn't work. And tried with media and no password and so on but nothing works. I don't know why it started to ask about a password now.. I havent changed anything just did a restart of the server. Now I have deleted that CIFS and restarted both server and computer and made the CIFS again but nothing works anymore.. Any ideas?

just a guess but can you allow/force anonymous logins for that share.

that fixes it. I didn't have guest access allowed before.. But could the restart apply the settings and the setting I had before had allowed guest access? Has to be something like that because it works now. And I have rebooted the server..

But i started wondering is there any way to make the plex user (972) a member of the media group (816) and that way give permissions to plex?
