Built my second freenas machine, migrating from a budget haswell build to an equally frugal skylake build.
I know, I did not follow any recommendations, to be honest I didn't even look. Joined the forum to post a reply to a thread I found when looking for an answer to a problem I encountered with the new machine. No one had replied, except for one of the moderators, who did not offer any help and whose reply seemed to me somewhat disrespectful. So I wanted to post a helpful reply in case the poor guy still wanted to get his rig up and running.
Not everyone here wants to shell out big bucks for the latest/greatest server components. If you do, that's great for you, but some of us here I'm sure just want to have some fun building a new system and end up with somewhere to backup a few home computers to.
