I am just starting to look at buying drives for my build, and was wondering if anyone had any experience with these drives? I don't hear them referenced much, people seem to go with 4tb or 6tb all the time and was wondering if anyone had any reliability concerns with the 5tb flavor? I can get these at $160 currently which is what sparks this question, seems to be good value for a company that is fairly highly rated.

I'm not aware of any particular concerns with the 5 TB capacity, but typically they aren't as attractive on a $/TB basis. The price you have sounds pretty good to me.

My Ex-Wife works for HGST, that should be reason enough to not purchase them. Nope, kidding (not about the ex-wife), they are probably good drives. Where are they on sale for $160? I'm not looking to buy but someone might.

With the normal price of 4TB Red's running around $150 I'd say that's a pretty good deal.

They are on sale for $170 at Newegg with coupon code ESCFEEM22. I also have a gift card laying around which brings them down to $160 out of pocket for me.

I am slightly worried about the noise that people are reporting from these drives. They seem to have very good reliability, but all I hear is that they have a pretty constant clicking and they are significantly louder than the reds due to the higher speed.
