Hi, I’m currently building a new truenas server with this hardware:
MB: Asrock x570D4U
CPU: Ryzen 7 3800x
Ram: 32GB ECC (thinking of increasing to 64GB)
HBA: 9400-16i
NIC: Intel x710 10Gb
Disc setup will be:
Data: 2x Vdev's with 3x 8TB raid-z
Cache: 1x 500GB m.2 SSD
Metadata: 2x Mirror 500GB SSD
I have all the parts except form extra ram and a Log device which I was thinking about using the
Intel Optane Memory Series M.2 2280 PCIe 16GB. But only thing I see as a problem is the writing speed at 145MB/s.
Is this too low for a ZIL/SLOG device in this setup? If how fast does it need to be? Putting them in mirror won't help with writing speed either.
