Hey All,
Been looking around the forums for an answer but there is so much info here, thought it would be easier to start a quick thread.
I have an old hp dx2200 microtower and I've purchased 2x2TB hdds I would like to use to put in the old pc to make it my own personal file server that has everything shared over the 2 drives so I dont loose anything if one drive fails.
So, basically, I'm pretty sure I have all the hardware I need, I'm just looking for a guide or a place where I could find some step by step instructions about getting this old pc up and running as my own home server so I can store photos, files and movies on.
Am I in the right place? is FreeNAS what I want?
Also can I use a dvd to do the installation process? and can I embed the os onto the drives I want to use or do I need an external usb drive to run the os?
Cheers for any insight, I'm going to need every piece of advicce I can get
Thank, Royce
