New Freenas user:

Mechanical engineer now account manager in the auto sector during the day and my family IT directory by night ... HAHAHA :)

Recently decided to replace my two OMV servers with freenas:
- Expand total storage for large media files (personal and business)
- Switch to ZFS ..... I had several problems with OMV ZFS plugin, so I wanted to try another distro
- Have fun and learn
- Had most of the hardware already, so why not!!!

My network:
3 x proxmox servers - running in a cluster - using both central storage and local
2 x freenas for central storage
1 x unifi 10 GB SFP+ switch
- several other 1g switches, unifi wifi ap's and cameras

Proxmox1:
- Dell R710
- 2 x Intel Xeon X5675 CPUs
- 70gb memory
- Perc H700 raid controller with 1gb cache - 6 x 1tb 7200 RPM disk in Raid 10
- Quad 1 gig nic
- Melonex dual 10 gig sfp+ nic

Proxmox2:
- Dell R620
- 2 x Intel Xeon E5-2643v2
- 94gb memory
- Perc H710P raid controller with 1gb cache - 6 x 400gb Intel DC S3610 SSD's in raid 5
- Intel dual SFP+ Nic

Proxmox3:
- Dell R620
- 2 x Intel Xeon E5-2620
- 62gb memory
- Perc H710p raid controller with 1gb cache - 8 x 250gb Samsung 850 pro SSD's in raid 5
- 1 x samsung 960 evo 250GB
- Melonex dual 10 gig spf+ nic

Main Freenas:
- Norco RPC 4220 chassis
- 2 x intel Xeon X5670
- 98 gb memory
- 3 x LSI 9211-8I HBA's in IT mode
- Chelsio dual port 10gb SFP+ NIC
- 16 x 4TB WD enterprise RE 7200 RPM drives setup in mirror vdevs
- 4 x 400gb Intel DC S3610 SSD in another pool as one big stripe (none critical data or VM's)
- NO L2ARC, but am running an Intel Optane 900P for slog

Backup Freenas:
- Some server case which holds 15 drives
- 2 x intel Xeon X5670
- 98 gb memory
- 2 x LSI 9211-8I HBA's in IT mode
- Chelsio dual port 10gb SFP+ NIC
- 15 x 2TB Seagate Nas 5900 RPM drives setup in raidz2
- NO L2ARC, but am running an Intel Optane 900P for slog

I have about 20 VM's running with some of them using local proxmox storage and some using the central freenas storage through multipath ISCSI
- The main freenas server also serves CIFS, NFS
- I have setup replication from the main freenas server to the backup freenas server

So far everything seems to be running find and I am liking freenas .....
Still have to do network tuning and setup as I am not getting full 10 gig network speeds from VM's to Freenas

Can't wait to learn more and try some customization

Welcome to FreeNAS and the Forums. Sounds like you have a pretty significant setup, I'm sure FreeNAS will be able to support your needs.
