FreeNAS machine with 2X 3TB WD Red Hard Disks ran well for more than a year. The operating system was on a USB that apparently failed. Replaced with a new USB installation (no saved config. files available), version 9.3.1.

Now Volume Manager window in GUI does not show either of the 2 disks in the Available Disks field.

yeah don't use the volume manager unless you want to start over from scratch.

I should have also mentioned that I also tried to Import Volume but similarly there is nothing available to select.

I really cannot remember the version on the failed freeNAS. Maybe 8. I believe it was ZFS.

Try zpool import and post the out put. If it works post the output of zpool status also.

I attempted zpool import in the shell. Nothing happened.

Results of zpool status

Since you think you might have been on version 8.x, you might want to install 8.3.2 and try importing the volume.

If by chance you used UFS - it's no longer supported with the release of 9.3.

Doesn't gpart show that they have zfs? But I agree you should install the version it was working on previously and go from there.

Now running FreeNAS 8.3.2. The problem as originally posted is still the same. The FreeNAS GUI cannot see the two internal hard disks in Volume Manager, Import Volume, Auto Import Volume or View Disks.

It would be best if you:
  1. Posted full hardware details as required by forum rules.
  2. Ruled out any possibility of hardware failure.

HP motherboard. I am not sure how to identify model number.
AMD64 Athlon x2
8GB RAM
Two WD Red 3TB disks

I am not sure how to rule out hardware failure.
