Hard disk usb

I am Heri and i am a newby un FreeNAS :)
I have built a FreeNAS and inside,
I have important pictures(my son :)
I have an USB Hard disk and i would like do an automatically backup of these pictures on my usb hard disk.
Do you think it is possible?

Yes, it's possible.

Just keep in mind that the USB connection is not as reliable as it could be. Plus, some USB enclosures hide the drive's details from the OS, (like SMART). So you may want to manually run the backups and verify that it worked.

Last, some USB enclosure electronics or power supplies die before the hard drive. But, sometimes you can't get the drives to give up there data in another enclosure.
