Hi,
I checked many websites to solve this but not so clear!

I'm using 9.3 and want to mount USB external disk to copy all files from Freenas to external disk.

How can I do this? Is it possible to do this on 9.3?

Regards,
Mucip:)

No. Mount the disk on another computer and copy the files through CIFS, AFP, FTP or whatever you use to connect to FN.

Well, it is possible, but usually not worth the trouble. There's an import option to get data off random volumes with a number of popular filesystems. Check the manual instead of random websites.

I went with the safe option favoring data integrity since they apparently haven't read the manual

Hi,
It should be OK infact. All other *nix systems can read/write usb external discs without any trouble. As I guess FreeNAS should do same?!...

Connect the USB device to your laptop/PC and rsync or robocopy the files from FreeNAS to the USB drive.

Two peneth of advice. To speed things up (big increase in my case) use USB3 external device if you can and Ethernet, don't use wireless and don't use Powerline.
