Transfert with USB hard drive ?

Hi,

I've build my first FreeNAS with a Dell Precision 380 workstation.
FreeNAS OS 9.1.1 runs on a USB key.
I've created a ZFS volume with internal hard drives.

I would like to copy my data from an external USB hard drive.
Is it possible to transfert data from USB hard drive (NTFS or FAT32 or exFAT) connected on my FreeNAS machine?
Or do I have to transfert all data by the network (it'll be long!)?

Will I be able to backup/mirror data from my FreeNAS to an USB hard drive, readable from Windows or MacOSX computeur?

Short answer:
Yes, it works. Don't use NTFS. You're better off with doing backups/restores over network.
